("Grukie" or “we”) collects, transmits, and stores information collected from visitors (each, a “Visitor”) of its website and any derivative or affiliated websites on which this Privacy Policy is posted (collectively, the “Website”). Information we collect may collect personally identifiable information from Visitors in a variety of ways. Personally identifiable information may include, without limitation, (i) contact data (such as a Visitor’s name, mailing and email addresses) and (ii) demographic data (such as a Visitor’s zip code, address, location, or schools attended). Information may be submitted to the Site or via phone or email when communicating with a Grukie representative. For students, we may collection information related to your payments for tutoring sessions. For tutors, we collection your Social Insurance Number or your Social Security Number and date of birth, for tax purposes. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption on any page of the Site where we ask you to submit personally identifiable information and encrypt all such information.

We also gather non-PII when you use the Site. This type of data is compiled in aggregate and includes things like the referring URL or the type of browser you may be using. We use this data to better understand and enhance the user experience on the Site.

Data transmission and security

We use industry-standard SSL encryption when collecting and transmitting your information through the Site. “SSL” stands for Secure Sockets Layer encryption. Once information has been collected, we encrypt sensitive data in our database for added security. We use this protection when you submit personal data to us on our websites. SSL encryption seeks to ensure that you are actually sending your data to us and that no-one else can read or tamper with it during transmission. When you are asked to provide your personal data to us on our website, you will see that our “http” website address changes to read "https". The additional “s” denotes that the site is secure for that data transfer. You may also see a closed padlock symbol on your screen, again denoting a secure site.

Financial information

All financial information we collect, including your name, credit card number, expiration date, and address information, is encrypted in our System in full compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

Cookies may use “cookies” to track how Visitors use the Website. A cookie is a software component that can be stored on Visitors’ computing device and used to recognize Visitors if they visit the Website again. No personally identifiable information is stored in our cookies. Visitors may adjust their web browser software if they do not wish to accept cookies, please note that this action may limit your use of Grukie services that require cookies.

Use of Personally Identifiable Information

Grukie does not disclose or sell your PII information without your consent. We may use the PII or other personal information we collect to analyze how our Systems are used for various purposes, including to improve the design and content of, administer or troubleshoot regarding the system, communicate with you concerning the security, transactions, privacy, or assist us in personalizing the user experience. We only share a minimum amount of information between tutors and students in order to facilitate the arrangement of tutoring sessions.

We may disclose your information in special cases if required to do so by law, court order or governmental authority or when we believe in good faith that disclosing this information is otherwise necessary or advisable, including, for instance, to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interfering with the rights or property of Grukie, another user or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.

Information Regarding Children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected the personal information of a child under 13 we will take steps to delete the information as soon as possible.

Privacy policy changes

Grukie reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, and we will notify you of any material changes to the Policy by posting the new Policy here and changing the “Effective Date” at the top. We may also use alternative methods to alert you to changes to the Policy. We encourage you to check this page periodically for any changes.
